Don’t drive a Nissan Pixo. As you guys know, i like small cheap cars, but I certainly don’t like this one. Yeah they’re cheap, but so is catching herpes from a toilet seat.

How does it compare to the Micra gold standard?

It’s actually considerably more sluggish than our old Micra. Handling is about the same. Driving position is worse. Interior is okay. Engine is actually fairly good but the gearing is so long it doesn’t matter.

Ah, the Niszuki Pito, was it as bad as I expect it to be: Cheap Indian plastic and no driving pleasure whatsoever? I think this one ruined the Alto name here in Europe, which is why its replacement is called Celer y io.

Yeah it isn’t good. I actually prefer it to the 107 aygo etc of the era because the handling is a bit better, but I’m not at all a fan of those cars so it isn’t saying much. Steering was just super vague, plenty of body roll, pushes into understeer at really low speeds. Gear change was notchy in a bad way. Seats were okayish at least for the class and the engine was smooth and quiet for a 3 cylinder.

Do people buy these? For a couple of thousand more you could get a decent car, or for the same money a little used decent car.

Yep, but we’re a bit spoiled with our Twingos aren’t we :) , since they drive better than a lot of B-segment cars. I drove my brothers 208 last week, and while it drove relatively nicely, it was not quite as tossable as a Twingo.

I never could answer the question asked a while back “what’s the most scathing review of a car?” I now have my answer.

The one car that is even worse than a Note.

Apparently so. The one I viewed was £2300 on a 59 plate 67k miles. Went down the road and drove a mid spec Fiesta (which we may be buying) in nice nick with 71k miles on an 07 plate which was £2000 and most likely well pay much less.

Yeah I’ve driven few cars that are as fun on a twisty road in the price range. The Fiesta I drove today came close though.

Haha there’s a little hyperbole in there but it genuinely is one of the worst little cars I’ve driven and I drive a lot of small cars.

Haven’t spent much time in a Nissan Note so all I know about them is its bland and stories from others about their unreliability.

The unreliability part is new to me. Aside from a stuck tailgate lock ours hasn’t gone wrong in seven years.

Anecdotal of course but I know of two people who had problems with the car cutting out randomly. Few quality issues like interior dropping apart on its own etc too.

I think they were attracted by the ‘New car for £600o’ ads.

Yeah but Ford GmbH are masters at designing chassis. My dad had a Focus MK3, which I miss genuinly, since it drove way tighter than the 308 we’ve got now. I looked at some high mileage Fiesta MK7s before getting my (low mileage) Twingo, and indeed they drove great.

I live about 10 minutes from Nissan NA HQ. You see some weird things and you see some things way before you’re supposed to here.

Yeah ford is good at making cars handle, our Mondeo doesn’t feel like a big car, it’s fairly agile.

*the gearing is so wrong it doesn’t matter.
